This "wide-sleeved dress" is a modern interpretation of that cool and generous silhouette.

The roots of wide sleeves are said to date back to the Nara and Heian periods.
In Okinawa, the warm climate and natural features mean that the kimono is cool and comfortable as everyday wear for the common people, and its simple construction is what I believe is the origin of the wide sleeves.

Shimagoromo's washi yarn, made from the same Manila hemp fiber as Japanese banknotes, is water-resistant and can be washed in a home washing machine. It can also be dried on a low-temperature setting in a washing machine with a drum dryer.

It is usually rare for delicate knitwear to be machine washable, but because it is made from high-quality yarn and molded into a single piece using the whole garment method, it is less likely to lose its shape.

At Shima-Iro Lab, we apply high density and wash processing to the fabric during the finishing stage, so it will not shrink in the dryer.

Of course, to extend the life of your garment, we recommend turning it inside out, placing it in a net, and drying it in the shade with gentle care.

Whole garment is a one-piece knitting method, characterized by the absence of seams in the main body.
Shimagoromo Lab's knitting method is characterized by bundling thin threads together to make them strong, and then knitting them slowly and carefully over a long period of time to create a fluffy product.
We use high-quality yarns and materials generously to create unique, one-of-a-kind fabrics.

In addition, the collar, hem, and cuffs are reinforced with stitching to make the garment even more sturdy.

[Wrinkles]

In fact, washi thread is a wrinkle-resistant material.
When I take it out of the dryer, it's hardly wrinkled compared to other clothes, so I don't have to worry about wrinkles even if I wear it all day.

The reason for this is that the washi paper, which is made up of strong cellulose fibers randomly intertwined, is twisted into a spiral.
This structure bounces back creases, and the inherent elasticity of the knit creates a spring-like action that allows wrinkles to naturally return to their original shape.

Another great feature is that it hardly ever pills.
Washi thread has very fine fibers, so even when there is friction, it rarely gets tangled and forms balls.
